This course fills a critical gap — many existing safeguarding programmes are generic or only available face-to-face. Talent Learning Centre’s online DSL Training gives you specialist knowledge without the constraints of time or location.

What you will be able to do
By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge and practical skills to carry out your DSL responsibilities with confidence and in line with statutory requirements.
Understand statutory responsibilities
Understand the full statutory responsibilities of a DSL in educational settings, including legislative frameworks and organisational policy requirements.
Identify signs of abuse and neglect
Recognise physical, emotional, and sexual abuse and neglect — including behavioural and physical indicators in both children and adults.
Respond to disclosures
Respond appropriately when a child discloses abuse using the TED framework — without leading questions or compromising evidence.
Navigate multi-agency safeguarding
Understand the multi-agency safeguarding approach including MASH, MARAC, MAPPA, and Channel Panels.
Escalate concerns effectively
Escalate safeguarding concerns and referrals in line with statutory guidance, legal frameworks, and your organisation’s procedures.
Remove barriers to reporting
Recognise and address the barriers that prevent staff or children from reporting concerns, and build a culture of safety and openness.
